And then there were three. The number of US mobile phone provides looked set to shrink again on Tuesday as a federal judge rejected arguments that T-Mobile's $26.5bn takeover of Sprint would mean less competition and higher phone bills.

Though the deal still needs a few more approvals, T-Mobile expects to close it as early as 1 April.
