Florida man asks deputy for directions, gets them to jail when cocaine found
The worst part about this story is the 15-year-old the guy had in his car.
A 63-year-old man in Kissimmee, Florida was arrested on Saturday night and charged with drunk driving and cocaine possession after *he* stopped a deputy to ask for directions to an auto parts store.
The sheriff's deputy gave him directions to jail, instead.
Excerpt from the local news report, ocala.com:
Just after 8 p.m., Juan Zamora was driving on U.S. 441, south of Belleview, when he flashed his headlights at a Marion County Sheriff's squad car, according to an arrest report. Deputy Calvin Batts pulled over in the 15000 block and met with Zamora, who asked for directions to an auto parts store.
In his report, Batts stated he could smell alcohol. He observed that Zamora's eyes were bloodshot and watery and he was "unsteady on his feet." Zamora stated he had "two shots of bourbon hours ago" and told the deputy he was "legally disabled" but agreed to take field sobriety tests, according to the report.
The deputy said Zamora had difficulty with the tests, which Zamora blamed in part on a physical disability. Batts stated he found a "small dime bag" with a powdery substance in Zamora's T-shirt pocket. It field-tested positive for cocaine, the report said. Batts said Zamora initially refused a breath test, stating: "You didn't pull me over. I pulled you over."
Again: "Batts noted Zamora has a 15-year-old passenger in the vehicle."
Yikes.
