Login loop with any user besides Root Slackware 14.2

Hey guys, first post here. I'm a bit of a newbie to Slackware and have just started encountering an issue where, when trying to login to my main user account, I am redirected to the login page. I am not given the error that my login is incorrect, the screen simply blinks and returns me to the login screen.
This only just started happening tonight after using Slackware for a few weeks. I'm on a virtual and am currently using it for testing purposes, and nuked my account and created a new one. I was able to login to the account once, and was subsequently locked out after trying to log back in.
I read about people having a similar issue while using Debian, and that it related to account permissions, but I don't know why that could be an issue on a brand new user. Any help?
