Greg Robinson faces 20 years in prison for possessing 157 pounds of pot
Cleveland Browns left tackle Greg Robinson could spend up to 20 years in federal prison after police found 157 pounds of marijuana in his rental car, according to the United States Department of Justice.
Robinson faces charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana after being arrested Monday at a checkpoint near the U.S.-Mexico border. He was traveling with former Auburn teammate Jaquan Bray, who plays wide receiver for the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL and was also arrested.
Robinson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2014 draft, remained in custody Wednesday, according to jail records obtained by TMZ.
The 27-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March, and the Browns reportedly had no intention of re-signing him before the arrest, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
After failing to live up to expectations with the then-St.Louis Rams, Robinson was traded to the Detroit Lions for a sixth-round pick in 2017.
Cleveland signed Robinson as a free agent in 2018 and he started 22 games over the past two seasons.
