Iptables & geoip module in 2020

Hi all,
I have been unable to make it work with the geoip module for iptables in Ubuntu 18.04 server, using iptables 1.6.1 and xtables-addons-common 3.0.0.
All tutorials and howtos I found point to the maxmind database that no longer exists as the database to be used to make it work, as do the maintainer's pages.
So, here's the 1 million dollar question: have you been able to make it work? If so, would you mind explaining how?
Or, anyone has a copy, never mind old, of the previous GeoIp database as a temporary solution until a more permanent solution is found?
