Chivalry 2 closed alpha begins this March
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a multiplayer first/third person slasher released in 2012 that evolved from a Half-Life 2 total conversion mod called Age of Chivalry. I have many fond memories of Chivalry and recommended it to others back in the day. However, as the game grew older, the playerbase dropped off.
Last year, Mordhau launched and updated the Chivalry formula with improved graphics and a more in-depth combat system. A sizable hype-train developed around the launch of Mordhau, so Torn Banner Studios, the team behind Chivalry, likely took that hype as a sign that there is still a market for medieval slashers. After the flop that was Mirage: Arcane Warfare, the studio has gone back to its roots to develop Chivalry 2.
Those interested in the development of Chivalry 2 can help test the game in the closed alpha starting in March. The alpha will also be playable at PAX East from February 27 to March 1. The game is set to launch on the Epic Store, so alpha testers will need an Epic Games account. Be mindful that Torn Banner Studios is requiring alpha testers to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
