The War on Self-Checkouts Shows the Make-Work Bias Is Alive and Well

In November, voters in one state will weigh-in on a ballot measure that would prohibit grocery stores from using more than two self-checkout machines. This is little different than the 19th century Luddites who railed against the "job-killing" automatic loom that cut labor costs in half.
