Run an executable file
by Torben Friis from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4ZYKR)
Hi,
I have downloaded firefox-73.0.1.tar.bz2 to /home/kirsten/Downloads/firefox and I now have an executable named firefox in that directory. In that directory the file appears as a rhombe and in the terminal it appears with an * after it. So it is an executable file.
When I click or double click it nothing happens.
When I enter the file name in the terminal I get "waiting for google.fr..." where google.fr is some old stuff; or I get the chance to download firefox-73.0.1.tar.bz2.
I have tried to make an Icon with the command /home/kirsten/Downloads/firefox/firefox but not surprisingly nothing happens when I double click it.
I think firefox should just have started - or what?
best regards
torben
