Transfer to Ubuntu 18.04 Samba Share stuck at 0%

Hi,
We have a Ubuntu 18.04 server VM running off a synology LUN being used as a samba share for Windows computers.
Everything works except if we transfer a file over 800MB it freezes at 0% for over 60 seconds and fails to transfer.
Has anybody seen anything like this because i'm struggling to find a solution.
Surely there is a way for transfers to start as it would if it was a windows share..
