The market for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton is taking shape, as the Chicago Bears have been in contact with the team in regards to a trade for the signal-caller, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.

Dalton would be an ideal candidate to supplant Chase Daniel - who will become a free agent in March - as the backup to Mitch Trubisky, and he could even push Trubisky for the starting job.

Dalton has one year remaining on his contract worth $17.5 million.

The 32-year-old was benched last season, his 10th in the league, in favor of Ryan Finley. Dalton sat from Week 10 to Week 12 before being reinstalled as Cincinnati's starter. He went on to lead the Bengals to their only two wins in 2019.

The Bears regressed from 12-4 in 2018 to 8-8 in 2019, while Trubisky saw his play decline substantially in his third season.
