Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Jack Conklin is expected to generate interest from several teams in free agency, including the New York Jets.

One team has been informed that Conklin plans to sign with the Jets when free agency opens, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source.

Free agency opens on March 18, while the legal tampering period begins two days prior. Teams are not allowed to negotiate with prospective unrestricted free agents until March 16, so if the Jets do indeed have a handshake deal with Conklin, it would be a violation of NFL rules.

However, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, New York isn't expected to land the 25-year-old as the competition for him will be intense.

Conklin started all 16 games in the last year of his current deal with the Titans in 2019. The former eighth overall pick, who ranked second among offensive tackles on theScore's top 25 free agents, was selected as a First-Team All-Pro as a rookie in 2016.

Prior to the beginning of the 2019 season, Tennessee opted not to exercise its fifth-year option on Conklin.

The Titans' offensive line is coming off a subpar pass-blocking campaign, in which the unit allowed 56 sacks. On the other hand, Tennessee's OL helped propel running back Derrick Henry to an impressive season.

The Jets, meanwhile, had issues with their offensive line all year long. New York allowed 52 sacks and posted a league-worst 3.3 yards per rushing attempt.
