The Carolina Panthers agreed to trade right guard Trai Turner to the Los Angeles Chargers for left tackle Russell Okung, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

However, the deal cannot be processed until March 18, the first day of the new league year.

Turner was rumored to be on the trade block. He follows released tight end Greg Olsen and retired linebacker Luke Kuechly in the growing line of established veterans departing Carolina, which appears headed for a rebuild under first-year head coach Matt Rhule.

A third-round pick in 2014, Turner earned a Pro Bowl selection for five straight campaigns from 2015-19. The 26-year-old has two seasons remaining on his four-year, $45-million contract. He'll join a Chargers offensive line that struggled with Michael Schofield III at right guard in 2019.

Okung, meanwhile, was limited to six games last season because of injuries and health issues. He suffered a pulmonary embolism last offseason due to blood clots in his lungs, delaying his start to the campaign.

The 31-year-old spent three seasons with the Chargers and was a Pro Bowler for the second time in his career in 2017. He's signed through 2020 and carries a base salary of $13 million.

If healthy, Okung could take over the left tackle spot in Carolina previously occupied by Greg Little and Dennis Daley.
