Report: Jimmy Graham not expected to return to Packers
Tight end Jimmy Graham isn't expected to return to the Green Bay Packers for the 2020 season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Graham has one year left on his current contract. He became the highest-paid tight end in football after signing a three-year, $30-million contract with the Packers in 2018.
Green Bay will save $8 million against the salary cap by releasing or trading the five-time Pro Bowler, according to Over The Cap. The Packers have $20.4 million in cap space for 2020, ninth-lowest in the NFL.
The 33-year-old has registered 93 receptions for 1,083 yards and five touchdowns in two seasons with the Packers. Graham's 38 catches and 447 receiving yards in 2019 were his lowest marks since his rookie campaign in 2010.
The tight end position continues to be a concern for the Packers ahead of the 2020 season, as second-year pro Jace Sternberger is the only one locked on the roster once free agency opens on March 18.
