Rodgers: If Packers draft QB, he won't 'beat me out anytime soon'

Aaron Rodgers doesn't believe a young quarterback will unseat him in the near future.

The star passer was asked Friday what he would think if the Green Bay Packers drafted a quarterback early in the 2020 NFL Draft. Rodgers expressed confidence in his abilities moving forward but understood bringing in young talent is part of the game.

"I'm a realist, I know where we're at as an (organization) and I know where I'm at my career," Rogers said, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "I'm confident (a young quarterback is) not going to beat me out anytime soon."

The 36-year-old added he would like the Packers to bring in players who could "come in and help us right away."

If Green Bay drafts a quarterback, that pivot will find himself in a similar position to the one Rodgers was in 15 years ago. The Packers selected the now two-time MVP 24th overall in 2005 while Brett Favre was still on the roster. Rodgers didn't take over as the team's full-time starter until 2008.
