Ravens' Yanda retires after 13 seasons

Baltimore Ravens guard Marshal Yanda is retiring from the NFL, the team announced Tuesday.

The 35-year-old spent all 13 seasons of his NFL career with the Ravens and is considered one of the premier offensive linemen in team history. He earned eight Pro Bowl nods and two first-team All-Pro selections, and helped the team capture Super Bowl XLVII.

Baltimore selected Yanda in the third round of the 2007 draft and inserted him into the starting lineup during his rookie season He primarily played right guard but his versatility led to key snaps at both right tackle and left guard.

Yanda contemplated retirement prior to the 2019 campaign but returned to help Baltimore set an NFL single-season record for rushing yards and a franchise mark for most points scored.

The native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was known for his physicality, consistency, and high level of play during nearly every year of his career.

Yanda is a lock for the Ravens' Ring of Honor and could eventually be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
