Slackware for ARM

Hello,

This forum is a platform for announcements and community discussion around running the Slackware Linux distribution on the ARM architectures.

Goal of Slackware ARM

There is presently an official port of Slackware to 32-bit ARM hardware platform - 'Slackware ARM'. The goal of Slackware ARM is to provide the desktop and server experience users will
appreciate in the parent project, Slackware x86/64.

Device Support

Due to the rapid evolution of ARM hardware, and the maturity of the ecosystem, Slackware ARM operates a community development model. Slackware ARM provides the full Operating System, platform installation support and documentation for a small number of ARM-based systems, that meet that goal.

Slackware ARM is extended and supported on other devices through the help and commitment of the community.

There are presently two options for Slackware on ARM architecture:
  • 32-bit ARM:
Common examples: Orange Pi, Raspberry Pi, Banana Pi, Trimslice Pro
    Options: Slackware ARM
  • 64-bit aarch64:
    Common examples: Pinebook64, ROCKPro64
    Options: slarm64 community project
