VM with MIDI support?

PCLINUXOS is my preferred OS, while Bitwig is my DAW of choice. Most VSTs are Win or Mac based, as is Sibelius. I thought that I would use VMware player to get a consistent work environment running under Win 10, but have seen some VMware documentation that VMware doesn't support MIDI,which of course blows my plan out of the water. Can anyone advise me how to get this to work with reasonable ram and hdd requirements on a Dell G3 17 laptop?
