VM Stalling (Windows 10)
by business_kid from LinuxQuestions.org on (#510MG)
Virtualbox-6.1 on Slackware64 with a lightly used windows-10 VM.The VM is lightly used as using it is only considered in emergencies, of which unfortunately this in one.
I booted it and tried to install a Flash Plugin in M$edge. Very little happened - it appeared to update the screen but do nothing. It was using 100% cpu or more, and 75% ram, while doing nothing. Letting it rest achieved nothing, nor did a restart. 100% cpu or more, and 75% ram, and no flash. I've hit a site that actually NEEDS flash, and I need it. BTW, a complaint is going off to the site maintainer (as well as 2 threads here).
The normal procedure at this stage would be to give up on windows for dead, reformat, reinstall, etc. That's not appealing unless someone can point me at a recent download, because my dvd is from 2016 and takes about a day's worth of updates, which in itself is a venture into the unknown.
I would try a disk tool if there was such for a VM, or any ideas people may have.
