Jets signing Perriman to 1-year, $8M deal
The New York Jets are signing free-agent receiver Breshad Perriman to a one-year deal worth up to $8 million, with $6 million guaranteed, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, shared with ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The 26-year-old is coming off his best year in the pros. Operating as the third receiver behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' top-ranked pass offense, Perriman recorded career highs of 36 catches, 645 yards, and six touchdowns.
However, the lion's share of those totals came in the final three weeks of the season - with Evans and Godwin sidelined by injuries - when Perriman went off for 349 yards and four scores. Before Week 15, he'd failed to record more than 87 yards in a game.
The Jets add Perriman on the same day former receiver Robby Anderson signed a two-year, $20-million deal with the Carolina Panthers.
Receiver is an area of need for a Jets team that finished 29th in passing offense in 2019 and 27th in receiving touchdowns.
