security when using phone as webcam
by Punk-in-D from LinuxQuestions.org on (#51CTB)
Hey all,
It doesn't come as a suprise that my university is switching to teaching via Zoom instead of classes with actual people in one and the same building.
Thing is, I'm running Linux Mint on a laptop without a webcam. I figured it should be possible to use a phone as a webcam. I found (among others) these instructions:
https://www.slashdigit.com/using-and...windows-linux/
Leading to this script: https://github.com/bluezio/ipwebcam-gst/
I don't know yet how to assess the actual security issues with this, and before I do something I regret, I figured I'd ask for opinions here. Would this be safe enough on a laptop and phone I'm using solely for following classes? If you know of alternatives I'm open for that too.
Thanks!
