Linux Mint 19.3 Freezes on boot.

Hi
I got Linux Mint 19.3 on a Dell Vostro i7-2630QM 8GB Nvidia GT525M (also referred to as GF108M) system.
Yesterday it just would not boot up properly. Every time it froze at login screen. I tried different kernels and safe boot etc. I did stuff that i don't even understand in advanced option when booting up. At the end I wiped my HDD and re-installed Mint from a USB. But that is no solution. If something like that happens again, I would like to know what to do via the terminal (although it opened in root) to solve or detect the problem. Maybe a command to replace the GRUB (whatever that is). I am sure it's a corrupt boot sector or something like that.
I didn't lose any data since everything is on OneDrive. THe problem is copying everything from main laptop to my Linux laptop back again is taking me all day.
Any advice?
regards
Antonius
