Password Monitor, smart copy, and vertical tabs coming to Microsoft Edge
Microsoft's Chromium-based Edge browser rolled out only a few months ago. Microsoft has been pushing out frequent updates to the browser since then in order to bring Edge into the modern era, as well as to distinguish it from its competitors with a host of features. Microsoft recently updated its "What's Next" page on the Microsoft Edge Insider website, showing off three upcoming features.
The first of these features is Password Monitor, which checks your saved credentials against breached databases. If your saved usernames and passwords appear in any of these databases, Edge will notify you and assist you in changing these credentials. This feature is somewhat similar to Mozilla's Firefox Monitor, which draws results from have i been pwned?
The next incoming feature is smart copy, which attempts to properly copy formatting when copying from the web. The feature makes use of an area selector tool, giving a more clear view of what exactly will be copied.
The final feature on its way is vertical tabs. I'll admit to being a tab hoarder, and sometimes the situation develops to the point that my tabs don't have any visible text, leaving me to select tabs based on the icons and memory. That's probably a problem I need to address myself, but one solution is to display tabs vertically with a collapsible side menu. Microsoft claims that Edge is the first browser to offer this feature.
