battery life on different distros

Have you tried different distros on the same laptop and experienced longer battery life with one over the other, while using all basically the same way?
I have a rather new Linux laptop from Tuxedo, and because the Intel Comet Lake chipset is so new, It's been hard to get anything running on it other than Ubuntu-based (where my current Kubuntu is actually curated by the OEM, and I have no idea if vanilla K/Ubuntu would run fine or cause the same problems that I'm seeing with other distros).
However, I'm pretty disappointed with the battery life, and I thought of ways to improve it. On the other hand, it's always a lot of hassle to get all apps installed and everything customized and configured to yr liking, so trying a different distro might not actually be worth the effort.
My usual preference is with Manjaro, and it normally performs better on the same hardware than Ubuntu-based OSs, so I'm thinking lower consumption of hardware ressources should translate to longer battery life, right?

What do you think:
a) generally speaking, would you say that with distros that are easier on the hardware a longer battery life is achieved?
b) in this specific case: Manjaro KDE over Kubuntu, i.e. same desktop environment, different base - would say it makes a noticable difference?
c)I've usually found that the DE tends to make the biggest difference in terms of performance, where higher number of available features translates pretty much directly into lower performance.
But also Arch < Debian < Ubuntu bases seem to make a difference in terms of speed/hardware requirements.
