The New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints are among several teams doing at least some level of homework on quarterback Jordan Love ahead of the NFL draft, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Love's former college coach at Utah State, Matt Wells, said he's received seven calls about the signal-caller within the last five days.

"I think they are just trying to put the complete story together on him," said Wells, who's now the head coach at Texas Tech.

The Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers, Green Bay Packers, and Washington Redskins are reportedly part of the group looking into Love.

Love has garnered polarizing assessments ahead of the draft, which opens April 23.

In 2018, Love completed 64% of his passes and threw 32 touchdowns against six interceptions. In 2019, he completed 61.9% of his throws and tossed 20 touchdowns against 17 picks.

The big-armed quarterback has seen his stock fluctuate throughout the pre-draft process, which doesn't include private workouts this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Patriots and Saints both face uncertainty at the quarterback position long term, with the Tom Brady era now over in New England and the Drew Brees era nearing the finish line in New Orleans.

As for the other teams reportedly researching Love, the Dolphins, Chargers, and Redskins all own top-10 picks and are candidates to draft a quarterback. The Packers appear set with Aaron Rodgers for at least a few more years.
