Configuring local network

Hi All,
I have a couple of laptops with rhel 6 installed on them. I have a netgear 4 port switch and an old wifi router. I'm trying to setup a intranet so that these laptops can communicate with each other, would it be possible to achieve what I want to do with these network devices. Could someone provide me info on how to do this. Thanks in advance.
