Enabling a device in Linux

I am new to Linux. I have 2 sound cards and would like to be able to switch between the 2. I have disabled the one in windows and found it was also disabled when I switched to the Linux OS. I would like to be able to switch between the 2 as I am experimenting with each of them in Linux. I do not want to keep going back to windows to enable/disable the sound cards. My OS,s are Win 7, Linux Mint Cinnamon and Ubuntu 18.10 all on the same 500 GB SSD.
