Python2 and Python3 (together) ??
by GTrax from LinuxQuestions.org on (#52CCM)
Firstly, the system is LinuxMint using the Mate desktop.
When one is installing an application that (apparently) has can install from the repository as a Python2 application, or as a Python3, or even, it seems, as both.
I notice that the computer has Python2 and Python 3. Some programs use Python2, others Python3.
It leads to questions..
1. What exactly is the difference?
2. When a program is available from the repository as a Python2 application, but also has available a Python3 version, does one choose only one version, and should it be Python3. Is the term "version" even applicable in ths context anyway?
3. Can things get messy or broken if both are installed (it happens inadvertently)?
The program in question is called PyMCA
