Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is well aware that he's dealing with the coronavirus pandemic from a fortunate position.
While appearing on former Packers teammate A.J. Hawk's podcast, "The Hawk Cast," on Friday, Rodgers explained why he won't follow other celebrities who've offered messages about the pandemic.
"One thing that I'm sure you'd love - sarcasm - that I haven't done and will not do is being one of those celebs who's telling you how difficult it is, or stay-in-your-home stuff from a mansion or from this or that," Rodgers said (starts around the 15:00 mark).
He added: "There's real people hurting, so I'm not gonna sit here in my privilege and tell people from my ivory tower to do this or do that. I just think it falls on deaf ears.
"I will say, let's all be smart. Let's be smart about what we're doing and who we're seeing. But man, I know people are hurting and that is way more important to me than some sort of message that I can relate to you."
Rodgers was nearly stuck in Peru during March as the country shut down due to COVID-19. He and his travel companions ended up making their private flight out of Cusco just 15 minutes before the airport was set to close.
