Random laptop freezes after accidental fall and memory upgrade
by Hermani from LinuxQuestions.org on (#52FMG)
Currently I run Ubuntu 19.10 on a ThinkPad T460s, updated with the latest packages. I have full disk encryption enabled on the SSD.
Recently I upgraded the memory to a total of 16 + 4 (soldered in) GB. The memory module is within the specifications of the ThinkPad. It seems to run fine with it. The same day the Thinkpad got adventurous and tried to hit my wooden floor as hard as possible. After that it ran fine.
However since then the Thinkpad auto sleep function sometimes does not work as it should. And when it wakes up, I now have to hard-reset the laptop to get it working again, because I can use the mouse pointer but nothing else seems to react. When I am working on it (as I do right now) there is no problem at all and all works fine.
I made a short list of options:
Could anyone please have good advise for me?

I made a short list of options:
- Wait a couple of days and install 20.04 over my current install and see what happens
- Dig into some log files to find out what is going on
- Buy myself a brand new Dell XPS 13 and install Ubuntu 20.04 on that
Could anyone please have good advise for me?
