Report: Jaguars eyeing move up, talking to Lions

The Jacksonville Jaguars could be gearing up for a big draft-day move.

Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell "just called" Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn to discuss Thursday's first-round picks, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Jaguars own the No. 9 and No. 20 selections, while the Lions sit at No. 3.

Detroit isn't short on offers, as the NFC North team reportedly plans to trade its top pick to either the New York Giants (No. 4) or the Miami Dolphins (No. 5).

It's not clear which player the Jaguars are eyeing if they are aiming to acquire the No. 3 selection.

Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert, the two quarterbacks expected to come off the board after presumptive No. 1 pick Joe Burrow, could potentially be Jacksonville's target.

The Jaguars traded Nick Foles to the Chicago Bears, leaving sophomore Gardner Minshew as the top QB on the roster.

Minshew became a cult figure in Jacksonville after starting 12 games while Foles dealt with injuries and poor play, but it's possible the team doesn't view the 2019 sixth-round pick as a franchise-caliber player.

The Jaguars could also be interested in one of the top four offensive tackles, cornerback Jeff Okudah, or defensive tackle Derrick Brown.
