Individuals around the NFL believe the Chicago Bears will not pick up the fifth-year option on quarterback Mitchell Trubisky's contract, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

The Bears have until May 4 to make a decision.

Chicago traded four picks to move up from No. 3 overall and make Trubisky the second overall selection of the 2017 NFL Draft. He's now entering the final year of his four-year, $29-million rookie deal.

Trubisky was named an alternate to the 2018 Pro Bowl after helping the Bears to a 12-4 record and a playoff appearance. The 25-year-old took a significant step back in 2019, however, prompting Chicago to acquire Nick Foles from the Jacksonville Jaguars after an 8-8 season.
