Citing unpaid guarantees, Clay Matthews is filing a grievance against the Los Angeles Rams for more than $2 million, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

The linebacker was released in March after the first season of a two-year contract that carried a base value of $9.25 million and $5.5 million guaranteed. Matthews has reportedly submitted his grievance paperwork with the NFL Players Association, which will handle the filing.

Matthews and running back Todd Gurley both claimed after their simultaneous releases that the Rams hadn't sent them the checks they were scheduled to receive via contract guarantees.

Matthews, a six-time Pro Bowler with the Green Bay Packers, hasn't signed with another team since the Rams terminated his contract. The 33-year-old produced eight sacks in 13 games for L.A.
