NFL officials have discussed giving its 2020 schedule some flexibility to move games to Saturdays during fall if college football is not being played, sources told Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.

The league has already had preliminary discussions about the idea with its broadcast partners, reported Marchand, who added that the majority of games would still take place on Sundays and that contests on Monday and Thursday nights wouldn't be affected.

The NFL's 2020 schedule is expected to be released on May 9.

Though the league is operating under the belief that its 2020 season won't be delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, contingency plans have been discussed. Those plans reportedly include staging games in empty or partially filled stadiums, or even playing a shortened schedule.

Meanwhile, the NCAA's contingency plans reportedly include holding the College Football Playoff in May or June, dividing up the regular season between the fall and spring semesters or reducing its games, and allowing student-athletes back on campus to play in empty stadiums.
