Watson: Bears 'never once' spoke to me before 2017 draft
The Chicago Bears' 2017 draft decisions are once again top of mind after the club declined the fifth-year option in quarterback Mitchell Trubisky's contract.
Famously, the Bears traded picks No. 3, 67, and 111 in the draft and a 2018 third-rounder to the San Francisco 49ers to move up to No. 2, where they selected Trubisky.
Chicago made Trubisky the first quarterback taken in that draft while passing on the more accomplished Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes, even after the former UNC standout had logged only 13 college starts.
What may be more shocking is that Watson says the Bears didn't speak to him ahead of the draft.
The bears NEVER ONCE talked to me.. https://t.co/nMX7JKW99P

Chicago entered that draft with a clear need at quarterback, and the team could have used a number of its pre-draft interviews to evaluate other options like Watson.
