NVIDIA drivers on kernel version 5.5.0-kali2-amd64 of Kali Linux?

I just can't get it to work. The drivers install fine but don't load, and my system does detect the card well (NVIDIA Geforce 940MX). I've tried everything: reinstalling, reinstalling after a complete wipe of the driver, reinstalling without gui, blacklisting nouveau and patching xorg. Nothing. I did get it to work once (I don't even remember how), but Kali just wouldn't boot, it was stuck with a black screen and the same boot lines every time.

If you know what might be causing this, please lend me a hand here.
