Predicting the NFL's 10 best-selling jerseys in 2020

There was plenty of transition in the NFL this offseason. A number of superstar players changed locales, and more than a handful of teams updated their looks. All of this should have an impact on the top-selling jerseys this upcoming season.

Here's our best educated guess at which 10 jerseys will fly off the shelves.

Tom Brady

Brady has been a fixture on this list his entire career and owned the top-selling jersey of 2019. It's gotten to the point where every New Englander must have at least one Brady jersey hanging in their closet. Now that he's a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he has a whole new fan base to sell to. The Bucs don't traditionally rank high on the list of top-selling merchandise, but the switch to jerseys that hearken back to their heyday coupled with the addition of one of the sport's all-time greats might change things. Brady already has four of the top 10 selling jerseys since April's draft.

Rob Gronkowski

Fresh off his one-year retirement, Gronkowski's Buccaneers jersey already features in the top 10 of the highest-selling uniforms. Gronk last had a top-10 selling jersey in 2017, but he figures to be a fan favorite in Florida. The Sunshine State is where he held his Super Bowl beach party and hosted Wrestlemania 36, where the 31-year-old won the 24/7 title belt. Gronk's party style should be a perfect marriage with a team that has a pirate ship in its stadium.

Tua Tagovailoa

Thirsty for a winner, the Dolphins fan base is already tying itself to Tua. Tagovailoa has the two highest-selling jerseys in the NFL since he was picked No. 5 overall in the draft. Miami hasn't had a franchise quarterback since Dan Marino, so you can excuse the team for hitching its wagon to a youngster who just had major hip surgery. But the mix of Tua's winning pedigree, his Hawaiian chill, and those Dolphins aqua and whites make for a top seller.

The 24-year-old is the youngest player to own both a Super Bowl MVP and NFL MVP award, accomplishing both in just his first two years as a starter. Mahomes is positioning himself to be the new face of the NFL for years to come. He owned the second-highest selling jersey of 2019 and he'll enter 2020 as a defending Super Bowl champion, which should only increase his jersey sales.

Lamar Jackson

The one who figures to challenge Mahomes for the duration of his career is the man who succeeded him as the league MVP. Jackson didn't make the top 10 for the highest-selling jersey despite winning the NFL's top individual honor, but his merchandise sales should continue to rise after catching the league by storm - and likely by surprise - in 2019. Jackson's dual-threat ability makes him one of the most exciting quarterbacks since Michael Vick - an icon and top-seller in his time.

Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott

Elliott has owned a top-10 selling jersey every year since he entered the league and Prescott has been on the list in every season except for 2018. Popularity comes with being the faces of America's Team. There's no reason to believe the duo won't be on the list again in 2020. The Cowboys enter the season as a contender in the NFC after missing the playoffs in 2019. They boast an impressive offensive attack that added top receiving prospect CeeDee Lamb in the draft.

Joe Burrow

Not every No. 1 pick or even top quarterback selected has gone on to make the top 10, but Burrow should be able to crack it. Though Bengals merchandise isn't exactly in demand nationwide, Burrow is coming off one of the most impressive seasons by a collegiate quarterback. His stock has never been higher. He also should have the backing of the NOLA faithful who are likely still celebrating the national championship he led LSU to in January.

Barkley has had a top-10 jersey every season since he entered the league. Such is life as the marquee player in the top media market in the U.S. The Giants should be more competitive in 2020, and though their matchups with the Cowboys won't be in prime time this season, New York and Barkley will still have plenty of opportunities to make national headlines.

Aaron Rodgers

We'll end this list with another fixture. Rodgers has had a top-10 selling jersey for the past three seasons and there's no reason to believe that streak will end in 2020. In fact, Packers fans may be even more provoked to pick up a No. 12 jersey now that it appears the clock could be running out on his time in Green Bay. The Packers drafted Jordan Love as their likely quarterback of the future, so if this plays out much like it did when Rodgers was picked to succeed Brett Favre, Aaron has, at most, three years left at Lambeau Field.
