Washington Redskins receiver Cody Latimer appeared in a Colorado court Monday following his arrest Saturday on multiple felony charges stemming from an incident that took place at a poker game.

Latimer's attorney, Harvey Steinberg, said during the hearing that the alleged sexual assault of Latimer's four-year-old son was committed by someone participating in the poker game and is being investigated by law enforcement, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and John Keim.

The allegations against Latimer - he's facing charges of assault in the second degree, menacing, illegally discharging a firearm, and reckless endangerment - took place at the same location and around the same time as the sexual assault, Schefter adds.

Upon Latimer's arrest, Steinberg had asked the public to withhold judgment as "there's an entire backstory to this situation that constitutes one of the most highly provocative situations you can imagine."

According to a police report, Latimer got into an argument with a card player. The game was hosted by Roderick English, who claimed to be Latimer's best friend. English told police he separated the two in the argument.

Latimer returned about 30 minutes later and blamed English for the earlier argument, the report states. Latimer then allegedly pulled a handgun out of his hoodie and threatened to kill everybody before emptying the magazine and chamber of his gun. However, the report states he later fired two shots near English.

English pinned Latimer against the wall and Latimer retaliated by hitting English on top of the head with the gun, according to the report. The two later calmed down.

Latimer is due back in court on July 24.
