It's the Jaguars and everyone else. They've been flat-out disrespected in the betting markets, owning the lowest win total in the league (5). As bad as Jacksonville projects to be, I'd rather not take a price that's shorter than 3-1 in this category. After all, it's a lot easier to be awful than it is to be elite. Jacksonville's going to struggle, but we might be surprised at how much company it has in the NFL's basement.
Here's which other teams offer value.
Panthers (+600)The Panthers could have finished with the most losses last year had they not stolen so many games. Carolina went 5-11 but was still one of the league's luckiest teams - Pythagorean wins called for just 3.9 victories, which is more than only the Dolphins (3.1).
The NFC South is going to be a nightmare for the Panthers' defense. A unit that nearly finished last in scoring defense last season has to play Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady six times this fall. Good luck.
Carolina also draws the AFC West in a schedule that's among the five toughest in the NFL.
Raiders (+2500)The Raiders are one of those 'tweeners. After trudging to a 4-12 record in head coach Jon Gruden's first year back in 2018, the club responded with seven wins last season. Las Vegas is a sleeper in some bettors' eyes, but I'm not buying it.
The Raiders had an average scoring margin of -6.6 in 2019, which was worse than the Cardinals, Lions, Jets, and Jaguars. They were only better than the Dolphins in DVOA defense, which isn't ideal when you factor in just how improved the AFC West will be offensively.
Las Vegas also has six games in the AFC's toughest division and four contests against the pass-happy NFC South. Overall, the Raiders have the league's sixth-toughest schedule, according to their opponents' combined 2020 win totals.
