HTML and now no BBCode?

I truly appreciate that now HTML is used in posts, but really, since the '00s I mostly use BBCode on such forums. Don't get me wrong: only HTML works for some things I'd like to post (Internet links predating 'HTTP://,' like 'NEWS://,' 'IRC://') but most forums disable HTML supposedly because of cracking/exploits, but mostly for things forums don't like: certain code/web-links forum software can't check so takes people to unwanted places, etc. I'd have paragraph break here but lately been forced to use HTML new-line/line-break command for paragraphs in all posts since earlier today (all my paragraphs ran together especially after quotes starting any re-edit for grammar/optimization... line-break fails there.) Left of my edit box says 'BB code is on;' 'HTML is off.' I don't know whether we ever had a choice, but HTML has actually been on for me though I don't see/recall anywhere I ever had that option...latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=PV4iwHsDMTM:c6SfGLcgVeY:F7zBnMy latest?i=PV4iwHsDMTM:c6SfGLcgVeY:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=PV4iwHsDMTM:c6SfGLcgVeY:gIN9vFwPV4iwHsDMTM
