Uninstalling grub; what to do at grubrescue
by RandomTroll from LinuxQuestions.org on (#53XC7)
I'm in a pinch, so I'd appreciate help and no attitude. I came home from my Memorial day outing to find my computer and modem gone. Walmart, Office Depot, and Best Buy were sold out of suitable replacements. I bought used at Dr Dan's. I'm at the airport to connect. (I live a mile away; it's empty.)
I have a bootable SATA backup disk, but it won't boot externally and when I install it grub tells there's no grub installation and puts me at the 'grubrescue>' prompt, which I don't know how to work. This is the disk I tried to install grub on previously. I can't find any evidence of grub on the disk. I assume it's in the MBR. Because Windoze is 10 it lacks fdisk.
I have limited time on-line. I haven't done an install in 10 years.
