Downtown Stoney Creek Tim Hortons serving up their final cup
People in downtown Stoney Creek will soon have to go somewhere other than Tim Hortons for coffee.
The location next door to the Stoney Creek Royal Canadian Legion hall is closing on May 31, the second Tim Hortons to pull up stakes in the area this year.
While the company's media relations department didn't respond to messages seeking an explanation, servers at the 8 King St. E. shop confirmed the closure. They said any comment would have to come from head office.
Like the Tim Hortons at the corner of Barton Street and Grays Road that shut doors in January, the downtown shop doesn't have a drive-through.
Sharon Richards, owner of McGee's Landing gift shop in downtown Stoney Creek, said the nearby Tim's will be missed.
A lot of people that live here, they used to congregate there and meet their girlfriend or somebody to talk to in the morning or afternoon," she said. Now they won't be able to do it."
There are still other Tim Hortons in lower Stoney Creek, including at the corner of Barton Street and Lake Avenue, the corner of Barton and Fruitland Road, and the Fiesta Mall on Highway 8.
