firefox 68.8.0 fails to start with Bus Error

firefox refuses to start, and if called from a Konsole gives "Bus error".
I'm running (64bit) 14.2 fully patched (in a qemu4.0 vm from a 14.2 patched host)
Has anyone ideas what to do to get it to work? as it is an official patches/packages update, I have never had problems with them before.
