[SOLVED] flash/html5 failure in 14.2 Firefox
by kel_en from LinuxQuestions.org on (#544WS)
I have a problem with flash and html5 using Firefox in 14.2 on one machine but no problem using Firefox in 14.2 on a second machine. The failed machine, desktop, had a clean 14.2 install 2 weeks ago. The working machine, laptop, had a clean 14.2 install 6 weeks ago. Neither machine has Adobe flash plugin installed. Desktop is an AMD PhenomII 4 core processor with Radeon HD4250 graphics. Laptop is a core-duo Intel processor with Intel Mobile 4 graphics.
When I try to watch the videos from the local traffic cameras, laptop works but desktop gives an error saying "no compatible source was found for this media". I have yet for find a youtube music video that fails in either machine. Yet, trying to watch the SpaceX flight through youtube on desktop I got the error message that my Firefox was out of date and couldn't process html5. I watched with chromium on that machine. The SpaceX video was viewable on laptop with Firefox.
Firefox on both machines is mozilla-firefox-68.8.0esr-x86-64-1_slack14.2. Desktop has chromium-pepperflash-plugin-32.0.0.293-x86-64-1alien installed but laptop does not.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thank you. Richard
