Jernigan agreed to a one-year, $3.75-million deal with the Texans in April. However, many contracts were only agreed upon in principle, as teams couldn't administer physicals due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 27-year-old has spent six seasons in the NFL split evenly between the Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles. Jernigan recorded two sacks in 10 games for the Eagles in 2019.
