no app disc with burned install OS

Was directed to insert the install dvd to install several elements needed to complete install of openoffice,but had used a burned downloaded version of the os which means any time inserted it would just get the option to reinstall -- no apps for scanning available. The install burned dvd can be openned into segments, but doesn't seem like any option will provide the required app selection. Any solution available?
