permissions on Ubuntu 16.04.5

Hi all,I have just installed Ubuntu onto my Dell optiplex 380. When I tried writing to my DVD I get the message that I dont have permission to do this. As not being very tech savvy could someone please explain ho to rectify this please. I will never go back to MS so hope I can fix the problem.
