Graphics crash after switching PC to newer model

I used to have a P3 700Mhz PC but now I upgraded it to a 2.4Ghz PC. Now my problem is that when I run some graphics intensive programs in KDE, X crashes.

I'm using Slackware 13.

I have identified my device via lspci as:

Code:00:02:0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 01)I even modified my xorg.conf file used by X and added a videoram line to the proper section, but when I run X and check the log, it states videoram is ignored :(

Now I can retrigger the crash by loading Open Office 2.3 Writer and loading and moving a picture a few times (about 720x480 pixels).

Each time X crashes, I always see this line in my dmesg:

Code:drm:i915_get_vblank_counter *ERROR* trying to get vblank count for disabled pipe 1The problematic computer has 512MB ram yet it can run Firefox 45. It is a Compaq EVO.

I tried the exact same thing on my older Dell Latitude which has an ATI Radeon adapter and I get no problems with it. It makes me think maybe I need a patch for the intel video card on the problematic computer. The sad truth is the video card is not removable since the desktop is not a tower.

Anyone know how I can fix this problem without replacing the entire slackware distro?latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=C9vro870mgY:5sGYozKfVOU:F7zBnMy latest?i=C9vro870mgY:5sGYozKfVOU:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=C9vro870mgY:5sGYozKfVOU:gIN9vFwC9vro870mgY
