Woman, senior randomly attacked in Gage Park
Hamilton police are investigating after a 40-year-old woman and an 83-year-old man were randomly attacked in Gage Park Friday morning.
A 43-year-old man has been arrested, with the help of several people who held him at the scene.
Police were called to the park just after 7:30 a.m. June 5 for the random assault, said Const. Lorraine Edwards.
The older man and the woman were walking on a path west of the fountain, heading toward Gage Avenue, when they were randomly assaulted by an unknown male, she said.
Both were taken to hospital and police are still awaiting clarity on their level of injury.
Several people helped to keep the suspect at the scene and he was arrested by police.
He is expected to face assault charges.
Detectives from the criminal investigations branch continue to investigate.
