Easy to use Linux OS for a 512MB memory laptop?
by grumpyskeptic from LinuxQuestions.org on (#54EN6)
I have been given an old laptop at a recycling event. It is an Acer Aspire 5051AWXMi laptop with 512M memory, a 60GB HD, an AMD Turion 64 2Ghz CPU, a DVD and some usb pendrive sockets.
Currently it has Windows XP installed, but curiously the WinXP asks me to complete registration, so I have not used the laptop yet.
Its principal use is likely to be for reading pdfs and other things such as epubs.
I have altered the boot sequence so that it tries to boot from a dvd or pendrive.
Is there an easy to use beginner's level Linux OS for the above criteria?
I would also consider other free OS.
Thanks.
