Video and resolution
by Rhyader from LinuxQuestions.org on (#54WDM)
I installed Suse Tumbleweed on my computer.
It works fine, but I can only get 1024x768 resolution.
I use 1280x1024 in WinBlows.
When I first did the install of Suse, at some point it complains about my video with some message about the driver being "experimental". Don't know why that would be as it is not a new computer. When I said yes to the question to use the driver, the result was unusable. (screen froze up with gibberish). I had to start over and re-install Suse with the generic video driver selection. So, it works, but I would rather have better resolution. How can I get this?
The first question I should ask is "How do I find out what video system I have?" I see a reference to an app called "inxi". Will that identify my video and required drivers? Is there some other diagnostic tool I should use? After I can identify the video then the next question will be - how to get drivers and install them.
